Sun Silver Extends High-Grade Silver-Antimony Zone Beyond Maverick Springs Resource

ASX-listed explorer Sun Silver (ASX:SS1) has returned further thick, high-grade drilling results from its Maverick Springs project in Nevada, with recent intercepts of silver, gold and antimony sitting above the grade of the company’s existing resource. The result matters because Maverick Springs already hosts one of the largest undeveloped primary silver resources held by an Australian-listed company, and the extension drilling suggests the deposit remains open well beyond its current boundaries at a time when silver prices are trading near record levels.

Drilling Details and Resource Growth

Maverick Springs currently carries a JORC Inferred Mineral Resource of 237 million tonnes at 45.5g/t silver and 0.30g/t gold, equivalent to 347.2 million ounces of contained silver, or 539 million ounces on a silver equivalent basis. The latest assays, including intercepts such as 102.1m at 86.2g/t silver equivalent, were returned from holes drilled outside the current resource envelope, with the company noting that the mineralised zone continues to replicate its geological model along strike and at depth. Management has flagged further step-out and infill drilling through the rest of 2026 aimed at both growing and upgrading the resource.

Antimony Adds a Strategic Layer

Alongside the silver and gold, several holes returned significant antimony grades, in places exceeding 1% Sb. Antimony was added to the United States critical minerals list in 2025, a shift that has sharpened both Australian and US government interest in projects like Maverick Springs that host the metal alongside precious metals. The find comes as the Silver Institute forecasts a sixth consecutive annual global silver supply deficit in 2026, a dynamic that continues to support prices and investor appetite for new discoveries.

What It Means for ASX Silver Investors

Sun Silver’s results add to a run of extension drilling news from ASX-listed silver explorers this year, following results such as West Coast Silver’s intercepts at its Elizabeth Hill project in Western Australia. It is worth noting Maverick Springs remains at an early stage, with no reserve or scoping study yet published and no production underway, so the usual exploration risks apply. For investors tracking the broader silver sector, the combination of resource growth, a critical minerals angle and a tightening global supply picture is likely to keep early-stage silver developers in focus through the second half of 2026.
